Please enter through greenish wooden gates into courtyard. The yoga room is to the right, you will be able to see the glass doors from within the courtyard. To avoid a cold draft, enter the building through the first door on the right as you walk into the courtyard (the sign on the door orders readers to "Feel Fully Alive"), walk all the way down the hallway, take a left through the 'tea room,' take your shoes off and enter into the yoga space. Thank you!

The Method

Sri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga yoga is the system of yoga codified by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. It is this very yoga that Sri K. Pattabhi Jois taught at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India, via a physical practice that involves a mindful synchronization of the breath with a progressive series of movements & postures—a process which stokes ones internal fire, in mind and body, therewith detoxifying the muscles, organs, and nervous system. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.

Taught within a traditional Mysore-style structure, students nurture and internalize their own individualized practice at their own pace. Absolute beginners share the room with seasoned practioners—under the guidance of a knowledgeable teacher who aids each student according to their own unique needs, abilities, and personality.

People who are interested in cultivating a practice are encouraged to drop-in and observe a class free of charge. Thereafter, having met the instructor, asked questions, and seen how class works, students are asked to devote themselves to a month of regular practice, at least 3 days per week.

Ashtanga yoga—as with any daily practice—blossoms gently, over a long period of time, when nurtured with regularity and dedication.

Anyone can practice

No prior knowledge or experience is needed, necessary, or expected.

Beginners are welcome & encouraged to attend. Students receive one-on-one instruction within a group setting. Special care and guidance is given to beginners. Anyone can practice. Practitioners work at their own pace during the listed time periods.
